Aberdeenshire CLD and Edenholme Care Home today Launched their Poetry Booklet in a digital meeting.The Poetry Lovers
The booklet was written by the care home residents during the lockdown and is an example of how the redeployment of Aberdeenshire Council staff to settings such as care homes produces illuminating and exciting outcomes.
Today the resident and staff at Edenhome, CLD colleagues and guests were lucky to hear endorsements from Aberdeenshire Council Provost Councillor Bill Howatson. He spoke of the 'power of writing' and as a 'way to take charge of a situation', but also how these words can 'be cherished'.
Yvonne Leathley of Care Inspectorate - Scotland has provided a wonderful forward to the booklet and today read to everyone one of the poem.
Our very own Ed Garrett and Alistair Lawrie also read poems with Ed reminding us that it can be fun to come to work in CLD and this is an excellent example.
We think there would be no disagreement that the event was stolen by the two readings delivered perfectly by two of the authors themselves. Their contribution was deserving of praise.
