Mackie Academy Badminton Team Stonehaven and District Lions Club were proud to hand over a cheque to members of the Mackie Academy Badminton Team. Eight promising badminton players from the team have been selected to represent Scotland at the forthcoming International School Sports Federation World championships being held in Gzira, Malta. This is a schools event where the strongest school teams in various sporting disciplines are invited to compete on a worldwide stage. Each event is held in a different country, Malta being the host for the 2016 badminton event.

This opportunity is a once in a lifetime chance for these players to compete on the world stage and to have the chance to meet children with similar interests from all over the world. The players involved have shown great commitment and dedication to the sport and The Lions are pleased to support these young players turn this opportunity into a reality. The team are also fund raising for the event themselves to support costs for necessary equipment, entry fees, sports kit and travel costs.

Stonehaven Beach Litter Pick¬†Stonehaven Lions joined the local “Horizon” group for a “Litter Pick” along Stonehaven Beach.Beach-01

Where around twenty Lions and Horizon members collected many bags of litter from the beach.Beach-02

Finlay’s Fund” We enjoyed running the BBQ during the “Stoney Stroll” where they were raising funds for “Finlay’s Fund”

Junior Indoor Bowling – On the 31st January 2016, we once again sponsored the “Stonehaven Indoor Bowling Club” – “Annual Junior Triple Two Bowl Triples”

Teams from: Stonehaven, Aberdeen, Arbroath, Buchan, Forfar and Grampian took part.Junior-Bowls-01

The teams were presented with their trophies by President David Lawman from the Stonehaven & District Lions Club, also present from the Lions were Norman MacKay, Ian Milne, Daniel Veltman and Andy McArdle.

Senior Citizens Concert – We held our “Annual Senior Citizens Concert” – in the Town Hall on 21st April 2016.
